History

Alyn Rittmer established Rittmer Inc in 1953. He started out grading waterways for local farmers. By his side were his two brothers, Orville and Russel, evolving the company into a family business. In the early 60s they were grading major highways, developing Valley Oaks Country Club, and helping with railroad derailments. In the late 70's the company worked on Highway 22. Alyn's son, Jeff Rittmer, joined the company in 1979 as a laborer, operartor, and estimator. The reconstruction of highway 67 from Follets to LeClaire was completed in the late 80s over 3-4 years. Rittmer Inc also graded highway 61 from 280 to Bluegrass. The Clinton County Landfill was run from 1984-2004. A one year project in 1995 developed Guardian Glass. Also in 1995 Rittmer Inc began work and built a relationship with the Union Pacific Railroad which still continues to this day. Jeff Rittmer took over as President in 2000 and in 2004 Jeff's son, Jeffrey Rittmer JR, joined the complany as the third generation. Rittmer Inc is dedicated to serving its surrounding communities and getting the job done.
